A peaceful ottoman designed to create a calming feeling like ripples on a pond.
Process
Beginning with simple wooden curves and ending with an interaction inspired by nature. The rings in the center create a calming interaction as they move like the ripples on a pond. The combination of the empty structure with the ripple interaction gives the user a weightless feeling to relax and think.
Final Design and Prototype
To showcase the pond-inspired interaction, I created a 3D printed scale prototype with and small cushion, which showcased the gentle response of the rings when weight was applied.
