Jose Martinez Castro is a design engineer developing products and interactive experiences. His background in both industrial design and mechanical engineering gives him the perfect balance to find creative solutions to problems and realizing the technical challenges of the project. His main skills are in product development with computational design, mechanical CAD design + product visualization, and hardware + software prototyping for interactive electronics.
Currently, Jose works as a design engineer at Nova Innova designing interactive, outdoor lighting installations powered by bacteria, while also providing freelance design engineering services to a variety of clients.
He has prior experience as a researcher with the Materials Experience Lab at the TU Delft for 2 years exploring computational design, additive manufacturing, bio/living materials, and interactive digital tools. Additionally, he gave lectures and coached design students at the TU Delft Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering in computational design, mechatronics, mechanics of materials, and 3D modeling. During his studies, he interned for multiple biomedical companies and research labs (2 years of internship experience) gaining experience in medical product development and mechanical design.
